Helpful Resources
Helping Hand Icon

Spring is a time when many parents have received a letter from the school district to let them know that their student has been identified as GT or Gifted and Talented.  The world of gifted education can be confusing at first.  If you are new to the GT world, here are some resources from out site that are a good place to start.

- Two short videos that provide a great introduction to GT

- Video presentation on ALPs.  This is from 2020 but provides a good intro. Check out other information from our Parent Education Series.

- Reading: A Parents Guide to Gifted Children and The Survival Guide for Parents of Gifted Kids are great places to start.

-Prefer to watch rather than read? Check out these 45-60 min conversations from a variety of gifted experts

Footloose Backstage Tour
Theater

Join the Northglenn High School Theatre department for a backstage tour of their Spring Musical - Footloose! Participants will be split into groups to get a closer look at everything that goes into putting on a theatrical production including lights, costumes, and props! This is a wonderful way for students to learn more about high school theater and the creative and technical talents that support every performance.

There is no additional cost for the backstage pass, but families must purchase tickets for one of the show performances. After purchasing your tickets for the performance, you can register for the Backstage Tour event here. Space is limited!

Leadership/Liaison Meeting
Announcement

Our next leadership and liaison meeting will be on Monday, Apr 22, 6:30-8:30pm. This meeting is for our current liaisons, leadership team, as well as anyone interested in learning more about the GT Parents Group.  We will be recapping our spring events and planning for the next academic year.   This will be an in-person meeting at the Educational Support Center. Get more information and RSVP HERE.  We are always looking for parents who would like to get more involved in the Adams 12 GT community and new faces are always welcome!

The leadership meeting is also an easy opportunity to meet our 2023-24 Executive Board and connect with other GT parents from the district.  We hope to see you there!

New to GT?
Do you have a newly-identified GT student?

We know parents who are new to the world of GT often have many questions about what GT identification will mean for their child.  If you are unsure where to start, check out these short videos for parents of newly-identified GT students and look over the other resources available on our page.  If you have other questions, we are here to help!  Just send us an email at info@a12gifted.org.  Welcome!

Build Community
Support GT programs in your school!

The school district and the A12GTPG will continue to build the "school liaison" program to strengthen communication to families and to build our GT community.  Each liaison has the opportunity to join meetings during the school year where district staff, the A12GTPG and other Liaisons gather to discuss how to best bring resources to our schools, GT students and their families. Help us move forward GT programming in your school!
