Hello and welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit the Adams 12 GT Parents Group website. This website was built and is maintained by parents of GT students in the Adams 12 school district to share information relevant to parents, students, administrators and others who are interested in GT resources in the Adams 12 school district. Please email us at info@a12gifted.org to let us know your thoughts.

Passport to the World Cultural Expo
For GT and Talent Pool Students and their Families
Saturday, December 3, 2022

The Adams 12 GT Parents Group recognizes the rich and diverse cultural backgrounds of the students in the Adams 12 district and we believe it is important to provide opportunities for families to share their cultural heritage AND for students to learn and share these experiences with their students. In 2019, we hosted a cultural expo event that we called "Passport to the World" and after a hiatus during COVID, we'd like to host this event once again.
Passport to the World
This event will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in a conference space in the Educational Support Center and will consist of individual cultural displays arranged around the edges of the room. Parent and student volunteers will create displays representing their cultural heritage or experience. We give our volunteers flexibility in the materials they would like to share but most displays had some basic information about the country/culture, some culturally significant items (flags, clothing, etc), and some sort of interactive component such as a traditional food dish to try, a game to play, or a simple craft to make. Given the timing of the event, you are welcome to include information about cultural winter holiday traditions. While the 2019 event contained displays from specific countries, we would welcome displays or booths representing specific cultures (First Nations, etc.) as well. This event would be a great opportunity for students to work together or with their families to share what they have learned with our larger community. You do not need to be from the country in order to represent it; it could be a country or culture that you feel connected to for some other reason, or it could come from a student learning project for school!
We need your help!
If you are interested in volunteering to share information about a country or culture with our Adams 12 GT families, please fill out this short interest form and we will contact you with further details.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to info@a12gifted.org.
